Principal John Gibbs Asked to Join Research Advisory Committee for Bay Area’s Resilient By Design Challenge

The Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge is a collaborative research and design project that brings together residents, public officials, and a broad range of experts to develop innovative solutions for the issues brought on by climate change in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The yearlong Challenge seeks to fortify at-risks sites across the Bay Area against sea level rise, severe storms, flooding, and earthquakes. The collective effort of the Challenge will ultimately yield ten new, implementable projects throughout the Bay Area.

As a member of the Research Advisory Committee, John will contribute to the identification of critical sites around the Bay Area for the Challenge to investigate. He will also provide valuable insight to the Design Teams participating in the challenge, drawing upon his many years of design, planning, and community outreach experience throughout the Bay Area.

We are thrilled for John to continue WRT's involvement in the Resilient By Design Challenge, where he will work collaboratively with experts across disciplines including design, science, policy, engineering, and planning to help bring about a more resilient, sustainable, and equitable Bay Area.

Currently, John and the Committee are evaluating the Design Teams' submissions and assisting Challenge staff in establishing next steps for the Design Phase. Visit Resilient by Design to see this year’s designs.
