WRT is pleased to congratulate Lancaster County, PA for winning the US Environmental Protection Agency's 2009 Smart Growth Overall Excellence Award for Envision Lancaster County, the county's Comprehensive Plan and Implementation Program. "The US EPA Smart Growth Award is really a great honor for Lancaster County's citizens and business leaders," said James Cowhey, Executive Director of the Lancaster County Planning Commission, who accepted the award on behalf of the county. "It's great to be chosen as a national leader in planning and growth management."

WRT was lead consultant for the 2006 Growth Management Plan, a key component of the Comprehensive Plan, and has led or contributed to a number of other planning and implementation projects in Lancaster County over the years. Examples include the county's Green Infrastructure Plan, Long-Range Transportation Plan, and the ELANCO Regional Comprehensive Plan for five municipalities in the eastern part of the county. "It is gratifying to see the EPA recognize the dedication of the Lancaster County community and its planners through this prestigious award," said WRT Principal David Rouse. "We are happy to have contributed in a small way to their success."
