Joe Healy Honored with Prestigious Carpenters’ Company Membership

October 22, 2010

WRT Managing Principal Joe Healy, AIA, LEED AP has been honored with membership into The Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, America's oldest existing trade guild. The Carpenters’ Company serves to provide encouragement, education, and support for men and women entering the construction industry. The organization's history goes back more than 700 years, with the first written reference a mention of a Master Carpenter in the City of London's records of 1271.

Since its founding in America in 1724, there have been just 800 members. Joe joins a select group of 150 prominent architects, building contractors, and structural engineers, carrying on a 300-year tradition of the organization.

"I am truly humbled by this honor," Joe said. "The Carpenter’s Company fosters invaluable cooperation between designers, engineers, and contractors. I see this as an opportunity to forge partnerships that will emphasize the importance of preservation and the adaptive reuse of existing structures in achieving Philadelphia's sustainability goals."

Joe was initiated on October 18, 2010 at historic Carpenters' Hall, which hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774. For more information on The Carpenters' Company, please click here.
