Mami Hara Joins AAF Sustainable Cities Design Academy

January 23, 2009

Mami Hara, a WRT Principal in the Planning and Urban Design group, has been invited to be a part of the Sustainable Cities Design Academy (SCDA), created by the American Architecture Foundation (AAF). She will be lending her expertise as a resource team member throughout the coming year.

The SCDA pilot event will be held in Boston, January 28-30, 2009. During this event, the AAF will bring together four project teams from four Northeast corridor cities and twelve national sustainable design experts to conduct an interactive institut. The project teams and designers will present their work and engage in charrettes, with resource team members analyzing their designs, identifying key issues, and discovering best practices and emerging trends that are applicable to their projects. This event will be offered to the public and private sectors free of charge. As a specialist in civic infrastructure and sustainability planning, Mami Hara's input will be a valuable part of the event.

The AAF works to educate people about the power of architecture in their lives. The SCDA was developed by the AAF in partnership with the United Technologies Corporation to provide leadership development and technical assistance to local community leaders engaged in planning a sustainable building project in their communities.
