The Floyds Fork Greenway Master Plan, The Civic Vision for the Central Delaware, and the Trinity River Corridor Project Design Guidelines received the prestigious 2009 Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. The three projects won in the "Analysis and Planning" category.
The Floyds Fork Greenway Master Plan was created to locate and establish a general design direction for several regional and neighborhood parks in Jefferson County, Kentucky, with each park offering a variety of active and passive recreation opportunities. The plan includes a 27-mile regional trail system that will link the parks, nearby community facilities, and adjacent neighborhoods. In addition, the plan provides for natural and cultural resource areas that preserve sensitive areas for wildlife habitat and historic sites for public interpretation.
The Civic Vision for the Central Delaware creates a new vision for seven miles of the Delaware River in Philadelphia. The plan emphasizes the ecological and economic value of the waterfront and sets forth a framework that the city can follow to generate new, cohesive, and sustainable development. This new growth will be organized around parks and open space, providing access to the river and a new movement system, including a grand civic boulevard complete with public transit.
WRT's Trinity River Corridor Design Guidelines will help transition the Trinity River in Dallas, Texas from an underutilized resource to a vibrant outdoor space, punctuated by two signature bridges designed by Santiago Calatrava. The project features a waterfront promenade, two large lakes for boating and fishing, prominent architectural overlooks that will connect the park to the downtown and other neighborhoods, a parkway, an extensive trail system, ecological restorers that naturally improve water quality, educational components, an amphitheater, wildlife observation, and over 500 acres of meadows and wetlands.
