2010 National Planning Awards
The American Planning Association selected the Plan for the Valleys as the recipient of its 2010 National Planning Excellence Award for a Planning Landmark. One of WRT's first projects, the plan is a widely-heralded model for environmentally sensitive land development. In addition, the New Orleans' City Park was awarded the APA's 2010 National Planning Achievement Award for a Hard-Won Victory. WRT's City Park Vision Plan for the 21st Century, which had been adopted five months prior to the hurricane, was cited in the award as "...the organizing feature for the recovery efforts." These two awards were featured in the April 2010 issue of the APA's Planning magazine.
