Two WRT projects received awards during the inaugural Designing the Parks awards program. The LEED Gold-rated Blue Ball Dairy Barn won an Honor Award for Preservation, and the Floyds Fork Greenway Master Plan won a Merit Award for a Master Plan. These innovative projects have won a combined total of eight awards in the last three years.
For this first year of the awards program, there were 69 entries in five categories. Nine Honor Awards and eight Merit Awards were given out. WRT was one of only three firms to receive two awards, and was the only firm to win in two disciplines—architecture and planning.
Designing the Parks is a partnership of eight organizations—including the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy—that are, according to the partnership's website, are "committed to sustaining healthy, vibrant public parks as a core of civic life."
