Biscayne National Park Visitor's Center

Convoy Point is the National Park Service headquarters for Biscayne National Park. WRT designed new facilities for the site, including a new marina, headquarters and maintenance buildings, park ranger housing, and a 12,000-SF visitor's center. The visitor's center expresses a design vocabulary characteristic of South Florida architecture. Common elements include elevated porches, shuttered window and door openings, and high ceilings. The visitor's center has two levels, with the first hosting interpretive displays depicting the park's four ecological zones. The upper floor incorporates the main visitor's center spaces including the lobby, audiovisual presentation area, exhibit rooms, and staff offices. An observation deck on the upper level affords views of Biscayne Bay, and of a large ceramic mosaic tile map of the park inlaid in the plaza below.
