City Park Vision Plan

This 1,300-acre City Park in New Orleans is one of the country's oldest and largest urban parks. WRT's Vision Plan 2018 guides the park's development based on five closely-related themes: expanded recreational opportunities, a strong sense of community, integrated natural and functional systems, distinctive identity, and financial self-sufficiency. The plan restores bayou and lagoon habitat, expands and organizes cultural and sports facilities, and calls for new amenities such as 30 miles of trails, equestrian and boating facilities, a large festival ground. A pedestrian promenade will link existing and new cultural and family-oriented facilities. The promenade's “Great Lawn" will be the heart of the park, available for concerts, events, and informal play.
