Estero Streetscape

WRT's master plan and streetscape design for Estero Island injects new vitality into a beachfront community whose economy relies greatly on tourists. The design eliminated vehicular circulation from the retail core, allowing cafes and retailers to expand food and beverage service within the right of way. Times Square, the new pedestrian plaza, accommodates critical mass for activity and people while also imparting a fresh, whimsical identity. New lighting, coconut palms, and curvilinear, colored paving in curvilinear patterns that suggest waves play up beachfront locale. The project has been declared a resounding success by the Island's community and merchant organizations.
