New Stapleton Waterfront Redevelopment
The New York Economic Development Corporation is redeveloping this 30-acre, urban waterfront site along the shores of Staten Island as a mixed-use public/private investment initiative. WRT is responsible for the design of approximately $66 million in public improvements, including restoration of the water's edge, a 1.5-mile-long waterfront esplanade, several parks, nine separate streetscapes, and a 3,000-foot-long pier to be publicly accessible yet shared with the Navy for several weeks each year. Our design integrates environmental systems on-site and also allows for a working waterfront to coincide within a varied landscape that provides refuge and conserves views of the bay, the Verrazano Bridge, and the magnificent Lower Manhattan skyline.
