River Winds Community Center
WRT was responsible for site planning, landscape architecture, and conceptual building design for this 112,000-SF multipurpose community and senior center. The project is the centerpiece of a 300-acre recreational and mixed-use development on the Delaware River, and is characterized by an artful integration of building and landscape. The building includes competition and recreational swimming pools, basketball/volleyball gymnasiums, wrestling facilities, and an aerobics and fitness center. The building's form and materials offer a contemporary interpretation of the commercial and industrial buildings that once lined the Delaware River waterfront, and its landscape celebrates the elements,wind, water, light, earth,while creating inspiring and inhabitable outdoor spaces.
