Schuylkill River Valley National Heritage Area Management Plan
WRT's Heritage Area Management Plan addresses resource preservation and enhancement, education and interpretation, recreation, community revitalization, and heritage tourism for the Schuylkill River watershed. The plan guides the future of this historic area that spans Pennsylvania's Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill Counties. Historic and cultural resources within the heritage area were inventoried, and key attractions were identified, with their condition and adequacy analyzed. Fostering partnerships and linkages, assessing regional impact of development, and maintaining a sense of place at the community level were among the overarching principles identified during plan development. An Environmental Impact Statement was also prepared according to National Park Service guidelines.
