WRT Office Headquarters
Three design goals were established for WRT's new office space: encourage collaboration, provide maximum access to daylight, and reflect the firm's legacy of ecological design. Housed within an aging downtown office tower, the new space has been described as a “loft in the sky," an image achieved by designing an open plan and exposing the concrete waffle slab, ductwork, pipes, conduit, and lighting. This rough aesthetic contrasts with the more finished appearance of walls of frosted glass walls and bright colors, resulting in an office space that feels both fresh and professional. Green design strategies were applied aggressively, enabling WRT's office space to receive a LEED Gold rating as a pilot project in USGBC's LEED Commercial Interiors program.
