Located near Chattanooga's vibrant downtown, the redevelopment of McCallie Homes and the Anchor Glass brownfield site was pivotal to the revitalization of the historic industrial worker's village, known as Alton Park. WRT led an unprecedented community planning effort that engaged the residents of McCallie Homes and their Alton Park neighbors, 32 separate organizations, and three television stations to craft a sustainable neighborhood revitalization plan. The resultant mixed-use plan features a 400-unit mixed-income housing development for the Chattanooga Housing Authority that was awarded a $35 million HOPE VI grant. WRT's plan and design guidelines provided the blueprints for the restoration of the community fabric consistent with its historic context. New parks and trails, a revitalized commercial center, community club-house, swimming pools, and child care center have transformed this neighborhood from a place of last resort to one of choice.
