As part of the overall plan to revitalize the Westend neighborhood and reintegrate public housing residents into the broader community, this new 23,000 square foot mixed-use community facility is the centerpiece of transforming this neighborhood of last resort to one of choice. The new building features management offices, a day care suite for 50 children, a full indoor gymnasium, a computer training lab, a suite for the Washington County health care outreach program, Boys' and Girls' Club activity room, and a variety of meeting and conference spaces. A large catering kitchen serves daily noontime meals to area seniors and day care children. The architecture is drawn from the town's historic railroad vernacular, with design elements reflecting an old train station entry canopy and a rail yard control tower.
