The Jefferson Memorial is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the nation and the world. As an international icon of great historic and symbolic importance, it requires special security. WRT was retained by the National Park Service to design an effective, subtle, and beautiful vehicular security solution integrated into this site of great historic importance. Additionally, WRT is evaluating the site holistically to resolve issues with parking, bus drop-off, pedestrian access, and preservation of remaining components of the original landscape at the Memorial designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr.
