The 65,000 SF Mary Taylor House is an extension The Hickman, a facility that has been providing housing for elders of modest means since 1891. Comprised of 60 independent living apartments, the building design takes its cues from the historic architecture of the surrounding residences, broken into smaller, house-sized forms with mansard roofs typical of the neighborhood. The project's location in this highly walkable, quasi-urban setting that includes a new, enclosed, campus-connecting pedestrian bridge, is intended to keep the residents linked to the community and supply needed services and amenities. The project targets a LEED for Homes Gold certification and will achieve an Energy Star rating.
