WRT is currently working with the Jersey City Housing Authority, as part of the development team of the Michaels Organization and Metrovest Properties, for the redevelopment of six 10-story public housing towers and surrounding neighborhood properties into a new mixed-income, mixed-use community. The subject of a Choice Neighborhoods Initiative grant application in the next year, the transformation plan includes the gut-rehabilitation of an existing tower for senior housing and the development of high-density housing surrounding green roofs that sit over a supermarket and parking structure. Integration of education opportunities and job training are central to the plan, as are connections to the extensive transit and bike trail network that connects this neighborhood to the larger New York Metro Area.
