Located on the Lehigh River's east bank, this new community of 322 homes takes advantage of spectacular views of the Lehigh Valley and Downtown Allentown. With both rental and homeownership opportunities and planned connections to the region's river trail, the plan reconnects two former public housing sites to the traditional city grid and recreational resources, and transforms low-income projects into a choice neighborhood for households of all incomes. A mixed-finance project that utilized a HOPE VI grant, WRT's contextual design with single-family, twin, and townhouse-style homes creates a contemporary version of a traditional neighborhood, while being "green" by remediating brownfield sites and renovating a 1929 freight rail depot into a community center and neighborhood landmark.
