Adjacent to the front entrance of the campus student union building, HUB Plaza straddles the main east-west campus road. One of the main features of the plaza is the granite fountain, evocative of a mountain waterfall and Pennsylvania-native central geology. The $1.2-million plaza was designed as a flexible space to accommodate special events while providing for day-to-day student gathering and seating, in the context of a roadway environment capable of accommodating service vehicles and a moderate number of private automobiles. WRT designed the project, produced presentation drawings, developed consensus with the campus decision-makers, made design modifications, and turned in bid documents in just 2.5 months.
