Working in concert with all university stakeholders, WRT developed a concept design resulting in streetscape improvements and traffic control devices to enhance what is the main east-west pedestrian corridor of the campus. The result is improved safety and ease of movement for pedestrians, reduced vehicular traffic for servicing buildings and parking in restricted areas, and an improved exterior physical environment with better pedestrian routing, enhanced spatial relationships, new paving and planting materials, outdoor lighting, and site furniture. Traffic is restricted by traffic control kiosks and turnarounds located at each end of Pollock Road. The kiosks complement historic campus buildings in the Georgian tradition, while the turnarounds read as pedestrian walkways.
