The proposed development by WRT for Swarthmore College, a renowned private academic institution in the bucolic suburbs of Philadelphia, met the institution's desire for providing a properly scaled, mixed-use development adjacent to the Swarthmore R3 stop of the suburban rail system. The project is organized around an intimate courtyard that provides a mix of complimentary retail that includes a 6,000 SF campus bookstore, an additional 16,000 SF of retail at grade with an 80-room boutique hotel with a spa that includes a signature restaurant / bar, and meeting rooms with a large pre-function area. The development also includes 19,000 SF of leasable office space distributed over two levels above the retail.
