Situated on a hillside overlooking the ocean, the 13-acre Eleanor Roosevelt College represents the largest expansion in the University of California-San Diego's history. WRT, in collaboration with Moshe Safdie and Associates and Safdie Rabines Architects, contributed in the planning and layout of the site and prepared the landscape design and construction documentation. Careful consideration was given to preserving views of the ocean and weaving the dense urban campus into the rustic edge of the adjacent coastal community. WRT played an integral role in designing and developing program elements that included the design of major common open spaces, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, residential outdoor dining, gathering spaces, courtyards and public and ceremonial plazas.
