Weyburn Terrace is a 500-apartment complex with administrative offices, multipurpose rooms, lounges, and study spaces for a triangular, sloping urban site in Westwood Village. Part of UCLA's Southwest Campus, this project serves as a gateway to future high-density university expansion towards Wilshire Avenue. The nine-story main structure steps up the 30-foot slope, tailoring the building's bulk to the larger neighborhood's village-like character. Pursuing a LEED Silver rating, the project provides no new parking spaces; instead, it maximizes transit, bicycle, and pedestrian connectivity. All roof runoff is filtered through planted rain gardens; building materials are being chosen to maximize energy performance while minimizing heat island effects.
