Developed with extensive public input, the Union County Comprehensive Plan provides a guide for county and municipal decision-makers to manage future growth; maintain farmland, forestland, and other key resources; and encourage economic development based on local assets. The plan includes a Town Strategy, which addresses the location, pattern, and form of future growth, and a Rural Strategy, which addresses rural resource preservation. Sustainable growth principles were developed to direct new development to established communities, promote energy conservation, and conserve fiscal resources.
