This master plan is unique in that the University requested WRT to address both the campus and community needs in the planning process. WRT assisted the University in conducting a community Visioning Session that included a diverse group of community residents, business leaders, and civic leaders to address issues, challenges and opportunities for a community revitalization. The resulting Vision Statement identified Coleman Creek, a somewhat neglected stream corridor cutting through campus, as the significant unifying feature: both the community and the campus leaderships began to recognize the environmental importance of this open space in the regional watershed and as a community and campus resource.
