Virginia State Capitol Master Plan

WRT prepared a long range master plan for the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, Virginia. The project included a comprehensive master plan of the Capitol Complex and schematic design for the renovation of the historic capitol building designed by Thomas Jefferson.

The master plan included a long-range program to contribute to the City of Richmond and the Commonwealth's efforts to revitalize downtown, promote tourism, and preserve historic treasures. The master plan provided a sustainable planning and design framework for significant renovation and new construction investment within the ten-year period. Sensitivity to the historic context and downtown Richmond real estate market forces were critical to the success of the master plan.
