Atlanta's Project Greenspace

Atlanta, GA

Project Greenspace is an ambitious initiative by the City of Atlanta to create an integrated green infrastructure system that connects people to parks and recreational facilities; streetscapes, plazas, and other "green" elements of the urban fabric; and greenways and environmentally sensitive lands. Projected to nearly double its 2000 population by 2030 as new residents drawn by in-town living move into the City, Atlanta's challenge is to create an attractive urban environment that promotes environmental quality, community health, and sustainable economic development. WRT assisted the City in developing the vision, framework, and strategies to grow, manage, and build capacity for a comprehensive, citywide green infrastructure system.
