Germantown Academy Master Plan
The master plan for Germantown Academy, a K–12 independent school, aims to upgrade and reorganize the 118 acre campus to create innovative programming opportunities. The plan focuses on principles of sustainable design integration and reconnects the core campus to the natural environment, Wissahickon Creek and the adjacent wetlands and woodlands. Working closely with the trustees, faculty and staff, WRT developed several schemes that all connected the building's educational program to the natural environment, allowing interactive outdoor classrooms and wetland areas to engage the faculty and students.
Phase 1 of the master plan includes the renovation / reconstruction of the upper and middle school and the organization of the athletic fields, which allows reforestation and reclamation of sensitive wetland and flood areas.
