Modesto Bigas-Valedon is a registered architect with a professional degree in Architecture from Cornell University and has a Masters in Urban Design with Distinction from Harvard University. He is a Senior Associate at WRT, a design and planning firm in Philadelphia, with over 18 years of practice. His work at WRT includes award winning civic and cultural projects, as well as high density mixed use market rate and affordable housing projects. Modesto’s work is primarily urban in scale and focuses on making our cities viable places for healthier lifestyles through the design and development of sustainable environments. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and its local Philadelphia chapter. He is Co-chair of its Urban Design Committee with an agenda focused on implementable urban projects of various scales. Modesto credentials include Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) for the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS), and LEED AP, BD+C of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). He volunteers at Community Design Collaborative – a non-profit that provides access to local design expertise to local community based organizations and institutions and is a member of its Advisory Board.
