WRT has announced their selection as one of four nationally recognized firms to submit a design proposal for St. James Park in San José, CA.

In a competition sponsored by the City of San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department, 14 firms submitted creative and high caliber proposals to revitalize the 6.8-acre downtown park, which was once the neighborhood anchor and a place of gathering, and celebration.

An eight-member jury selected finalists who demonstrated a unique combination of technical abilities and innovative imagination.  The finalists include CMG Landscape Architects, !melk-free, Meyer + Silberberg, and WRT.

"The St. James Park redesign will contribute to the ongoing revitalization of Downtown San José,” said John Gibbs, ASLA, LEED AP, Principal at WRT. “We are excited for the opportunity to present a design that preserves a historic part of the city, while transforming the park into a public space that can be utilized for years to come.”

The design teams will present their designs to the jury and the public on October 15th. The final design selection is slated for late Fall of 2016 and the project will begin in late 2017 or early 2018.
